Antano Sparreboom’s City of the Seventh Moon is the first installment of the Ankuan trilogy. It tells the story of Verhan, a noble man who offers himself to become Nektos’ champion. Master Tentar, Lord Urwilar’s son, was the supposed champion, but Verhan easily beat him in one duel. The next day, Tentar was instructed by his father to go to Ankuan with Colonel Rane and several marines to escort him to send word and to protect his sister, Mistress Morani. Lord Urwilar also told Verhan to join them. This is because of the unrest and rise in criminality in Ankuan. Because Lord Urwilar could not go, he sent his daughter in his stead. What Verhan thought was a simple task to guard Morani reveals another story of betrayal and intrigue.

The fantasy setting and fast pace open a whole new world that compels readers to come in and explore. City of the Seventh Moon’s magic lies in its simplicity. Details are written with great care so that readers will find every scene easy to grasp. The imagery and suspense are impeccable, leaving readers anticipating what’s to come next. Antano Sparreboom is a master storyteller - every adventure is thrilling; every page offers something that won't let readers put the book down. With all that’s good in the first book, there are high hopes that the second and third books will be just as wondrous, if not better. City of the Seventh Moon is perfect for readers who love fantasy, action, suspense, and romance.
