Chuckie Becomes A Big Brother is a children's picture book written by Amy Myers Jensen with illustrations by Ulana Zahajkewycz. The story follows Chuckie, a brown dog with a loving family, who gets a baby brother named Bernie. Bernie came from far away where he was all alone. He has black fur, yellow eyes, and a tongue full of polka dots. Despite their differences, the dogs get along well, and Chuckie teaches his brother all the rules while patiently waiting for him to fit in and feel at home. Through vet visits and first days at daycare, Chuckie supports Bernie and shows him love and care. Get a copy of this book and join Chuckie as he experiences being a big brother for the first time.
Chuckie Becomes A Big Brother is a heartwarming story that teaches children to show compassion and be accommodating to others. The book is part of the Chuckie the Chocolate Lab series, which teaches children about emotions using stories based on the author's animal friends. It also raises awareness about homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. The book is a must-read for children who are adjusting to having a new sibling, whether biological or adopted. Amy Myers Jensen uses poetic narration and a cheerful tone to tell the story, making it engaging and fun. The beautiful illustrations perfectly complement the story and depict the characters well. I loved the little details like the dogs having neck scarves instead of collars and the happy expressions on their faces throughout the book. Overall, this is a great read, and I cannot wait for more from this author and this series.
