Christmas Clarity by Carolyn Healy combines holiday fiction and reality television in a heartwarming, sweet romance package. Clara agrees to visit Brookridge during the holiday period to interview couples about how they fell in love and date her producer’s nephew to fall in love also. The only problem is that the producer has two nephews. The ensuing story is delivered with style and humor, incorporating a few twists. Filming commences well, and as a surprise Clara’s cousin Janie arrives to keep her company. Throw in a cute kitten, a kitchen fire, and a trip to the lake during which an accident occurs. Relationships are blooming among the trimmings of snow and tinsel, but Clara has a few truths to admit and a mystery from the past to solve. Filming wraps up with a neat conclusion just in time for Christmas.
Christmas Clarity by Carolyn Healy gives the reader a positive feeling. I really liked how the story delivered a few surprises, which was a bonus addition to the romantic comedy. The narrative cleverly weaved filming with everyday events, creating a paradoxical interplay between intention, appearance, and outcome. The situational irony that developed generated suspense and opened the way for a clarifying segment of video images toward the end. The characters were appealing, and I enjoyed the fact that while there were many doubts, in the end there was no need for a villain. I recommend Christmas Clarity by Carolyn Healy for anyone who relishes generous, heart-warming romantic literature.
