In Christ In Our Midst, Clairann Nicklin explores the practical application of spiritual gifts and virtues from the Holy Spirit in daily life, and their role as manifestations of God's love and His divine plan. She discusses the seven gifts of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord as essential resources guiding believers on their spiritual journey and communal bonding within Christianity. Nicklin also speaks on the fruits of the Holy Spirit, qualities like charity, joy, peace, and patience that reflect divine attributes and guide individuals toward lives aligned with God's intentions. Central to her message is the cultivation of inner peace through prayer and communion with God, advocating virtues such as patience and forgiveness as transformative influences within Christian communities. Nicklin emphasizes the significance of divine love and support in shaping believers' spiritual paths and their service to others, reinforcing the importance of living in accordance with God's will.
Christ In Our Midst by Clairann Nicklin stands out in encouraging believers to seek God's wisdom and understanding through Scripture. Rather than taking everything stated at face value, she speaks on the importance of studying and applying biblical teachings in daily life. I really like that the author not only speaks on but embraces the importance of living out the Beatitudes and the Prayer of St. Francis, which are true reflections of the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit. She goes further by sharing her own personal experiences of spiritual awakening and renewal, such as a confession that left her feeling deeply cleansed and renewed by God's mercy. The most touching aspect to me is Nicklin's encouragement to use your skills to benefit others, be it legal assistance or help with household tasks. One cannot argue with the importance of contributing to your communities, which in turn embodies the spirit of Christ's teachings. Well written, accessible, and moving. Recommended.
