Chocovela Plays Tennis by Sameer Jani is a fun and inspirational picture book for young children. One morning, Chocovela, Bill, and Munchup decided to spend their day playing tennis. Everyone knew how to play, except for Chocovela, which left him feeling sad and hopeless. Luckily, Bill knew a school that taught tennis and took Chocovela there to learn. Chocovela tried and tried, but he still couldn’t get the hang of it. The coach then gave Chocovela some important and useful advice and told him to replace 'I can’t' with 'I can.' After that, Chocovela felt more confident about himself and succeeded in playing tennis. After seeing the effects of having a positive attitude, Chocovela took on many new things that he didn’t think he could do. Chocovela learned an important lesson that day, and what do you think it was?
Chocovela Plays Tennis is an entertaining book filled with empowerment and inspiration. After reading this book any young reader will learn the importance of believing in themselves. This can make a big change to their outlook. It is a crucial lesson that children should learn at a young age as I feel it will allow them to thrive at whatever they choose to do later in life. Whether it’s playing football at school, or something bigger, the message will still be the same. I loved the way that Sameer Jani conveyed this message through her wonderfully writing. If the story wasn’t enough to pull you in, the illustrations by Zalina Jani surely will, as they are creative and adorable. Keep writing these wonderful stories. I can’t wait to see more from you soon.
