Private investigator Liz Adams is newly married to Brad O’Connor, and they choose to honeymoon in Grand Cayman, where Brad’s best friend and former business partner, Tim Knight, has retired to write a novel. Tim has finished his book, a tale about criminal activities in the area. But how much is fiction, and how much is real? Tim goes missing shortly after they arrive, and their honeymoon takes a dark turn. Assisting the local police and Liz’s former flame, JP, they attempt to solve the mystery of what happened to Tim. There are hints of banker fraud, police corruption, money laundering, and even a buried treasure. Is Tim alive or dead? Read Cayman Conundrum by Stacy Wilder to find out.

In the style of a classic whodunnit, there’s a cast of varied characters, and any one of them could have something to do with Tim’s disappearance. There are loads of red herrings and some subtle clues that I missed the first read-through, causing me to be blindsided by the reveal. Cayman Conundrum is everything you’d expect in a mystery novel. It’s a page-turner, and I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. The book doesn’t finish at the end of the story; Stacy Wilder includes some food and drink recipes from the Cayman Islands. Even though this book is the fourth in the series, the author cleverly refers to incidents in the previous books so that it can be read as a stand-alone. I loved this exciting book so much, though, that I will go back and read the first three.
