Cat Call by Mollie Hunt is the fourth book in the Crazy Cat Lady Cozy Mystery series. Lynley gets a frantic call from her friend Rhonda whose sweet cat, Cary Grant, has gone missing. Of course, Lynley goes to help and hears about a hexter that has cursed the set, which has Lynley skeptical until her friend is injured in an accident. With her friend in the hospital, Lynley takes her place on set to wrangle the two kitty actors and uses her new job to see for herself if the rumors of a hex are true. An accident claims the life of a crew member and a murder takes place on set, which convinces her that something is wrong. Naturally, she can’t resist finding answers and delves into the lives of her temporary co-workers to see if one of them could be a killer.
Everyone’s favorite cat lady is back! This time she’s on the set of a television pilot for the adaptation of one of her favorite books. Lynley isn’t sure she believes the set is cursed but she can’t help wondering what’s the cause of the mysterious incidents that keep happening. The setting is delightful and places Lynley in a new environment, which makes for a great mystery and provides plenty of chaos. She has plenty on her plate already with Denny teaching her self-defense and her clowder each needing their own special requirements. Then she takes on the craziness of a film set where she’s suddenly a cat trainer. Not that she doesn’t love getting to wrangle such famous cats like Cary Grant and Clark Gable. The film set is the perfect place for bizarre incidents, accidents, and murder with Mollie Hunt providing plenty of suspects and misleads. This provides Lynley with new challenges and even lets her meet one of her favorite authors which also provides a fun twist to the story.
Some of the fun also comes from her enlisting her granddaughter’s help on set, which shows more of their relationship and how close they are. The cat focus of the story is primarily on the two little stars but her lovable clowder still has a strong presence throughout with each of them getting a little moment to show off with their adorable personalities. The Crazy Cat Lady Cozy Mysteries continues to be a unique and delightful series that has complete originality. Mollie Hunt once again delivers the charm of Lynley and her cat family with Cat Call featuring a mystery that’s delightful, suspenseful, and full of cat love.
