Quinn's junior year is not off to a good start. In Carpool to Christmas: A Sweet Teen Carpool Romance, Nicole J Schubert dives right into the dramatic comedy that young adult readers are sure to love. With her helicopter sister off to college, Quinn is suddenly on her own, and it's much harder to follow in Cricket's footsteps when she isn't there to lead the way. Now their parents are threatening to stage a family intervention in Cancun for Christmas to help Quinn get her life back on track. Cricket has other plans and refuses to let that happen, so she concocts a plan to enlist their weird neighbor to take over in helping Quinn manage everything she needs to achieve before the Christmas intervention crisis is unavoidable.
Carpool to Christmas is the perfect book to settle in with on a chilly fall or winter day. Nicole J Schubert has brought together a funny and entertaining cast of characters who express themselves in lighthearted yet realistic ways, with lots of teen drama, angst, and humor with just a touch of sweet, innocent romance. I most notably enjoyed the way that relationships were portrayed throughout the book, especially the different family relationships between Quinn, Cricket, and their parents, and I found myself yelling commands at the characters in the hope that things would turn out a certain way. The portrayal of the different personalities of the two teenagers is so much fun to read and it was impossible to put down. I look forward to reading more from this author.
