Captured Angel is the sequel to Dirt Road Main Street in which Cynthia L. Clark follows Holly Harris as she prepares to marry Jared Wallace. Apathetic about her fiancé and upcoming nuptials, Holly cared little for the new house and improved status that accompanied anyone associated with the Wallace name. Jared’s mother Victoria disapproved of Holly since she rejected Jared and broke off the engagement to be with her old flame, Tano. Victoria vowed to avenge her family’s pride. Victoria went to great lengths to ruin Holly’s happiness, and she took back a dance studio the family had helped Holly obtain and sent a man to harass her. Holly and Tano tried to maintain a long-distance connection, but Holly’s sudden disappearance put everyone on edge.
Cynthia L. Clark delivers an unforgettable love story that is certain to have readers on the edge of their seats. The tension leaves just enough suspense to encourage reading just one more chapter which may result in finishing the book in one sitting. Clark’s style is descriptive, so readers will feel immersed in the story, and the characters will come to life. The title is reflected in several ways throughout the novel, and the symbolism gives the plot a deeper meaning that resonates with the reader. Even without reading the first book, readers can easily catch up with Holly and Tano’s kismet meeting and whirlwind relationship as the author summarizes it in the first few chapters. Captured Angel would feel at home in the hands of romance readers who enjoy a little suspense and unlikely love stories.
