Campaign is the eighth installment of The Globur Incursion series by D. Rebbitt. After the destruction of the Globur battlegroup in the Chaco system and the Mongolian system liberated from their control, Grand Admiral Medici is determined to convince the Senate to wrest control of other systems from the Globur. Senator Strauss from planet Colmar is particularly advocating for the Alsace system. Meanwhile, people from the rim worlds are flocking to the recruiting stations to become Marines, and Karl Zenke is the commander of the new Imperial Fleet Battleship, Bismarck. Armed with new suits, weapons, and augmented technology, the Marines are ready to take back the territory lost to the Globurs. Major Sergeant Homer Sanderson must once again leave his life with his girlfriend, Lilly Verange, to fight in a war with both sides leaving no quarter.

D. Rebbitt continues to woo sci-fi fans with this gripping space military thriller that rarely gives you a breather. Epic in scale and filled with action, suspense, and intrigue, Campaign feels like what HBO's hit TV show Band of Brothers probably would've looked like if set in space. Rebbitt has created a sprawling sci-fi universe with believable characters and an ambitious story that is immersive and thoroughly riveting to read. The cast of characters is quite large, and the multiple POV narrative approach allows the reader to observe the war through the eyes of each major player. As this is the eighth book in the series, I suggest readers read the previous installments before tackling this one. Overall, a fantastic space war novel.

Campaign is the eighth book in The Globur Incursion series by D. Rebbitt. The Fleet was given all the resources it needed to get the job done. After the terrifying chaos at the Chaco System, the Senate and everyone else agreed that no other system would incur that much damage at the hands of the Globur. With the Mongolia System back under their control, Captain Jones and the rest had every resource at their disposal to get the job done right. A big battle was brewing, and everyone was preparing for it. The Marines were training on Khan under the watchful eyes of Sergeant Major Sanderson, Captain Zenke finally had a new ship after losing his beloved Arbalest, and Jones was given better equipment and a full task force to face the deadliest of enemies. All of them and more were making sacrifices for a better future, but so was the Globur. Was this effort enough to deter the Globur once and for all? Or would they all crumble?

No one writes young adult science fiction like author D. Rebbitt does. The flow of the story is incredibly well done; even with multiple POVs, you never feel as if the plot is disjointed. Everything makes sense in the end, and you are left in awe of the author. I had high expectations from the Campaign, and Rebbit didn’t disappoint me. The world-building was incredibly detailed, authentic, and realistic. Of course, all the characters were given plenty of page space to share their stories and ensure readers connected with them. Brown was struggling, but the Fleet was thriving under pressure. While the pressure was a little overwhelming for Brown, he kept calm until the end, and I really liked his development. Sanderson blew me away in this installment. He was vulnerable and wasn’t afraid to show it to Lilly. Zenke was charismatic as always, Admiral Pang was cynical, and of course, Jones was larger than life. The dialogues were phenomenal and revealed so much about the characters. The action was relentless, the pace was fast, and the characters developed beautifully. The glossary at the end was beneficial in keeping track of who was who and what was what. I cannot wait for the ninth in the series.

Many months after The Chaco system attack, humans work toward preventing another alien attack by constructing new ships and increasing their fleet size considerably. Even though he's had months to recover from the battle, John doesn't remember much of it. However, he has access to better tech and support from the new members of the fleet, giving him a better chance of defeating the formidable aliens. Unfortunately, the aliens also prove to be tougher opponents to beat since the Globur armor is more resistant to human lasers and seems to adapt faster to their threats. Campaign, the eighth book in D. Rebbitt's The Globur Incursion series, is a mentally stimulating, strategy-filled sci-fi novel about defending humans against highly advanced alien species that appear stranger and more threatening with every advancement the humans make.

The book's skillful mix of detailed worldbuilding, technology, and alien biology is every sci-fi reader's dream. I loved the aliens' unique features, such as having sensors that pick up sound waves and hearing sounds in the ultrasonic spectrum. The story moves moderately, shifting perspectives between different characters to create a busy, multidimensional plot. I was completely engaged as I followed the intricate strategies to beat the aliens with more resources and better preparation. However, I felt I needed to know the characters better because they seemed mostly focused on their missions. Nevertheless, Campaign will appeal to readers who enjoy books about intricate war strategies and stories with well-developed sci-fi worlds involving aliens and advanced technology. Since it's a series, you can experience more of Rebbitt's riveting sci-fi world in the other books.

In the eighth book of The Globur Incursion series, Campaign, D. Rebbitt continues to enthrall readers with a captivating space opera that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Combining intricate politics, military strategies, and an unyielding battle against alien invaders, Campaign: The Globur Incursion is an exciting addition to this gripping series. Following the devastating events in the Chaco system, humanity is determined to prevent another alien attack. With abundant resources granted to the fleet, the focus shifts to expanding it. As the story unfolds, we witness new revelations about the enigmatic Globur while the humans prepare to take the offensive.

D. Rebbitt has sustained the momentum across eight books, introducing fresh elements that keep readers engaged. Unlike other military science fiction series that often conclude with a climactic final battle, the latest installment of this series surprises us with new twists, innovative tactics, and storylines. Rebbitt's imagination and commitment to evolving the narrative shine through. The portrayal of the Globur, the alien foe, defies clichés, standing out as a unique and mysterious adversary. After eight books, their motivations, numbers, and homeworld remain secret, heightening the intrigue. In this book, we gain new insights into the Globur, igniting anticipation for future books. While Campaign can be considered a standalone novel, familiarity with the earlier books enhances the appreciation of character dynamics and their motivations. Drawing from his own military experience, Rebbitt infuses his writing with gritty realism. Character interactions take center stage, immersing readers in the diverse cast. Victories, losses, battles, and dilemmas unfold within the vividly constructed universe of the series.

Campaign is a work of fiction in the science fiction, space drama, and alien adventure subgenres, and forms the eighth novel in the highly engrossing The Globur Incursion book series penned by author D. Rebbitt. The work can be enjoyed by mature YA readers and adults alike. As the battle across several systems and far-flung worlds continues, the mysterious Globur begin to show their hand with some very telling new information. Meanwhile, the Fleet gathers everything it has to throw at the enemy and reclaim the Mongolia system, but somewhere along the way, the ultimate sacrifice may have to be made.

Author D. Rebbitt has kept the momentum going in this complex and deeply engrossing space war drama for novel upon novel, and the pace shows no sign of slowing down as we enter this eighth incarnation. Reading these novels feels like you’re deep in a very involved RPG campaign, following along on the shoulders of the OG heroes as newcomers take up the mantle, join the cause, and often get their trial by fire as they battle to survive the choices they’ve made. I found this volume especially heartbreaking for a few specific characters, and the way that Rebbitt winds the interpersonal dramatic story around such a far-reaching multi-system plot is a finely balanced art. Fans of deeply political tales will appreciate the underpinning of the military action with some really deep internal logic and sociocultural implications. Overall, I would certainly recommend Campaign and the series in general for science fiction fans everywhere seeking intricately woven space fleet adventures.
