No one writes young adult science fiction like author D. Rebbitt does. The flow of the story is incredibly well done; even with multiple POVs, you never feel as if the plot is disjointed. Everything makes sense in the end, and you are left in awe of the author. I had high expectations from the Campaign, and Rebbit didn’t disappoint me. The world-building was incredibly detailed, authentic, and realistic. Of course, all the characters were given plenty of page space to share their stories and ensure readers connected with them. Brown was struggling, but the Fleet was thriving under pressure. While the pressure was a little overwhelming for Brown, he kept calm until the end, and I really liked his development. Sanderson blew me away in this installment. He was vulnerable and wasn’t afraid to show it to Lilly. Zenke was charismatic as always, Admiral Pang was cynical, and of course, Jones was larger than life. The dialogues were phenomenal and revealed so much about the characters. The action was relentless, the pace was fast, and the characters developed beautifully. The glossary at the end was beneficial in keeping track of who was who and what was what. I cannot wait for the ninth in the series.
