Breakfast of Scorpions by Michael Allan Scott is A Jena Halpern Mystery Thriller. Two CIA field operatives have disappeared. Undercover as Egyptian arms dealers, they were at a Russian military weapons expo at the time, and Jena Halpern knew both of them. A computer coder working for the CIA finds a bug in military software. A terrorist attack takes place in Las Vegas. The list goes on, and people are dying for no apparent reason. The world has gone mad, and Jena’s psychic abilities swing into action as she investigates the cause behind it. She knows it isn’t terrorists, but what is sending everything haywire? And how long before Jena discovers that she’s the one being hunted?
Breakfast of Scorpions by Michael Allan Scott is a terrorist thriller, the fifth book in the series. I haven’t read any of the other books but I would recommend to any reader that they read the series in order to get a real feel for the characters. This is a mixture of terrorist and mystery thriller with a good dose of the supernatural wending its way through. The author has a distinctive writing style that draws you in, making you want to read on. Be warned, the plot is somewhat complex, but stick with it, and it all starts to make sense. It also gives a glimpse into a potential future for all of us and it's not necessarily a good one. You’ll love the main characters, and the plot has plenty of action. It's an enjoyable story, but do read the whole series to fully appreciate it.
