Blue Mubu by Stephen Nawotniak is book three in the Mubu series. It is a wonderfully illustrated book written for all ages. Mubu the morph is sad. He has been living under a storm cloud for almost a week, with neither a smile nor a chuckle. Everyone has moments of sadness and despair. Mubu teaches us that the key to our present happiness lies in searching for the things that make us happy, or have made us happy in the past. Mubu also teaches us that it's okay to be sad. When he realizes that he been blue too long, he decides it's time to do something about it. Follow the little morph as he journeys from being sad, lonely and "blue" to finding light, laughter and happiness. With the help and support of his friend Kookoo-ah-choo, Mubu learns an important lesson and can finally smile again.
A great learning/teaching tool, Blue Mubu by Stephen Nawotniak is cute and fun to read. The words are memorable and flow beautifully, and the illustrations are entertaining and colorful. I loved how his friend Kookoo-ah-choo helped him with compassion, but ultimately left everything up to Mubu; giving him permission to be sad, but being there for him when he needed it. One should not become dependent on others for their happiness and Blue Mubu teaches us how true friendship works in times of distress. It also shows us how we can utilize our friendships while learning to take control of our thoughts and emotions.
Mubu guides us through such dark emotions as depression, reminding us how we can fight the dark clouds with love, and eventually see our true reality through happiness by remembering that life isn't about us; it is about those around us. This book was entertaining and educational - everything I look for in a book! I enjoyed Blue Mubu very much. It teaches several very important lessons that every child and adult should know. I will be reading more Mubu stories and look forward to sharing them with my family.
