“Bloodline” by Shannon K Brown is the story of Luna Lanchester, a woman who lives her life carrying around a lot of demons. Literally. Luna is an independent young woman who has seen what abuse was done to her mother. She has also got an alter-ego, her demon side named My Lady Moon. And My Lady Moon is drawn to the other demons in Luna’s life. Luna’s search for a demon slayer complicates the matter when she is pulled between Sean, the High Priest of her waking hours, and Bane, the demon of her dreams. And then there is her neighbor from across the street, Dammon, the People Reader.
Luna’s troubles go a bit deeper than your typical “girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, girl meets new boy, rinse and repeat” formula. Through her warrior blood, she is linked to the four sons of Lucifer; she is their last chance for the freedom to walk the earth. Will they take it, or will they choose instead to be bound to her for eternity? Poor Luna’s life is as topsy-turvy as they come, with covens of witches trying to use her blood in their rituals, demons trying to make her their girlfriend, and a mother who just does not understand. And of course, there is her new best friend Izzy who just keeps trying to save everyone by getting them to make friends with Jesus. I found this book to be an exciting read, with a whole new take on choosing the “bad boy” as your soul mate. If I were Luna, I would be taking my time choosing between this set of suitors; guess that's what we will find out in book two!
