Susan Shay's Blind Sight is a well written, very exciting book to read. The characters are accessible and real. The plot is fast moving and keeps you turning the pages.

It has the correct amount of anxiety. When I read a suspense novel I want just enough suspense to keep me going, but not enough to really scare me. This was right on the mark.

Both Cassie and Keegan feel right. Keegan is cynical yet wants to accept Cassie's gift. Cassie is scared by it, but also driven by it.

I didn't correctly choose the killer. Usually I'm better than that, but that made the book that much better for me. There were no mystery cliches.

If you like romantic suspense, I highly recommend this book to you.

"Everyone has a little psychic ability." Also, "Fear is given to us for a reason." These two concepts propel this pulse-pounding suspenseful romance into high gear from page one. The author disappears and the characters take control and transport the reader to Stone Hill, Texas. There the reader is privy to Cassie Reynolds's and Keegan Flynn's innermost thoughts.

Both Cassie and Keegan struggle to overcome the affects of their dysfunctional families. Cassie tries with all her might to keep a protective wall around herself to ward off the pain and suffering of others she experiences when her guard is down or when someone touches her. However, when Keegan, with his "melted chocolate" voice comes in, the room gets brighter and the air has an effervescent quality for her.

When Keegan, a hard-nosed investigative reporter, arrives following his "gut feelings" that his sister Miriam needs him, he finds her best friend Cassie is supposedly a psychic though she tries to keep it quiet. He is sure she is a fraud and sets in to debunk her. Influenced by a miserable childhood after his parents fell for a cult fraud that took all their money and their compassion for him, he believes in nothing. Skeptical of Cassie's psychic abilities, he is alarmed at the emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical connection he has with her. He remains determined to debunk her but every fiber of his being longs for her.

Susan Shay does a superb job of foreshadowing with some red herrings that keep the reader guessing. Her pithy phrases keep the dialogue and descriptions vibrant. Cassie's mother "wouldn't understand the necessity for oxygen if she wasn't going to breathe it". Now that is selfishness personified! A whimsical phase on Cassie's t-shirt says "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it" which gives a light touch to a serious matter she is forcing herself confront.

The numerous secondary characters are well developed. They interact with Cassie and Keegan to create a world inhabited with flawed characters. While they support each other, they also fail each other at times in a remarkably realistic manner. Miriam, Keegan's sister, is the catalyst for pivotal events that propel the plot along.

Dark fantasy creeps in as visions and the workings of a warped mind make the happenings ominous and horrifying. THEN the love scenes make the heart skip a beat and take the breath away and even surprise at times--compelling.

At the climax when all physical defenses are gone in a life and death struggle, all that remains is the psychic ability to reach out and connect for help. Blind Sight makes the adrenaline pump double time. It is a story that gets a grip and will not let go until it is finished. GOOD READING!

Ms Shay has done it again. Given her readers another thrilling adventure. Touch psychic Cassie Reynolds has tried to live a normal life but when she begins channelling a killer in quiet Stone Hill, Texas, she can't hide her gift any longer. Cynical Keegan Flynn, who believes in nothing or no one, is the only one Cassie can turn to for help.

I couldn't put the book down. Filled with suspense, action and vivid description, I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this story.
