Blending In: A Tale of Homegrown Terrorism by Norman Brewer begins with a blast and an explosive moment that threatens an ongoing press conference, when a rocket-propelled explosive rips through the air, stopping short of the Russian Embassy. The casualties cause pandemonium. This entry defines the tense atmosphere that permeates the entire narrative. But who is behind the blast?
Stickman and Maple are not your run-of-the-mill terrorists; they are regular, ordinary people you meet in the streets. They have honed their skills so perfectly and know when and how to lay low and, most importantly, they know how to blend in. They strike vulnerable targets and inspire a general sense of fear across the nation. Norman Brewer creates a gripping terrorist thriller with characters readers want to follow. He infuses suspense into the narrative, making it a compelling read, with readers watching out for the next move of the two villains and wondering if the police can apprehend them and when.
The action is intense and the narrative has strong psychological underpinnings. Blending In: A Tale of Homegrown Terrorism looks at terror and examines the sickness in the minds of the key characters. The scenes are well written and the author allows clear images of the general setting and the effects of fear to form in the minds of readers, thanks to the excellent prose. Tightly plotted and beautifully written.
