Bill and the Little Red Plane by Jonathan Walker is an adventurous story that revolves around a little boy named Bill, a magnificent little red plane, and a flock of swifts. Bill was intrigued when he looked up at the sky one day and saw a flock of swifts and a little red plane flying in the air. Excitedly, he ran home to tell his parents all about it. His parents then surprised him by driving him to an aircraft hangar where the little red plane was parked. A friendly pilot named Edward then took Bill on an airplane adventure. They flew to many different parts of the world as they followed the flock of swifts that were migrating to a warmer climate.
I enjoyed reading Bill and the Little Red Plane by Jonathan Walker to my five-year-old son, because it was a delightful book that told a wonderful story. Bill reminded me of my son, because they both are very curious little boys that want to learn more about nature, and they want to figure out how things work. I loved the creative and colorful illustrations throughout the book, because they complemented the story very well. Bill’s adventure following a flock of swifts around the world was very entertaining to read. I also liked reading about the Swift Fun Facts at the end of the book, because it was very informative. I had no idea that swifts were even a classification of birds, but I learned that after reading this book! This sweet children’s book would be a great addition to any kid’s library.
