Big City Dreams by T.S. Krupa is a fun, captivating novel that follows the main character, Logan Hunter, as she leaves her familiar world in Texas to follow her dreams in New York. Logan and her boyfriend, Austin, are engaged and their path is already set. Austin hopes to marry Logan and take over her father’s farm. But Logan wants a different life. Life as a rancher and becoming a mother at twenty-four do not sound appealing. On arrival in New York, Logan meets the friendly and mysterious Mac who takes her under his wing. He introduces her to the New York social scene. Logan’s life swiftly turns into a bigger dream than she had envisioned. Her special connection with animals lands her a dream job. As Logan faces every hurdle in her way, she grows into herself and bonds with those close to her.
Laced with humor, Big City Dreams combines snippets of Logan’s life in Texas with the thrilling fast-paced life of New York. A colorful and fun set of characters makes the novel even more entertaining. In a bid to win Logan back, Austin arrives in New York dressed in his cowboy boots and a big glistening belt buckle, to the amusement of everyone he meets. I found Logan to be funny, interesting, and true to herself. Even when surrounded by pretentious people, her character still shines through. The novel has many surprising moments, which include a developing romance story. It remains absorbing to the end as Logan’s life keeps changing. Supporting characters are also well-developed. They provide community and support for Logan in the big city. Big City Dreams is an imaginative women’s fiction novel that contains lively, exciting scenes.
