Beyond Imagination: The Intellect (Neuphobes Book 2) puts you into the life of the Vincent family, who held the key to the human race. They alone knew the events that were to unfold when the aliens reset the whole world. Author Thomas Zman focuses on James, a college graduate who was wasting his life playing video games and making mediocre apps. He worked nights at a store to show he was somewhat responsible, but in reality he was going nowhere in life. Through a series of events, he joins the elite group of males in his family to take over their classified business; to save mankind. The mystery wrapped around the disappearance of James’ great-grandfather is always prevalent and was not disclosed until the end of the book, as well as the full implication that James’ grandmother's “passing” was not understood until the time came for him to take over the family business.
I especially liked the end of the book when James took a stand with Evvie. He knew about the aliens and yet he chose his heart, not knowing if it was the wisest choice or not. My favorite character would have to be Mrs. V. Her innocence and sweet demeanor helped everything stay afloat. She took running her household seriously and she avoided negative news like the plague. Though Thomas Zman penned her as a diligent wife and mother, she still had no idea what was going on within her realm. I found this science fiction story, Beyond Imagination, very entertaining and compelling. Thomas Zman adds enough detail without losing the enchanting charm of the story.
