Beauty Abides (Her Dark Matter Necklace Series) by Robert Albo is the second book in the series. Alice Blair is back and she is struggling with her mission to bring beauty to the world. She wonders why she was chosen and how she can complete her work. There is a lot of pressure on her and she is not sure if she can live up to their expectations. Things get even worse when she accidentally unleashes a virus that causes infertility in the world. Has she doomed everyone? Turning to her new friends in the other universe, Alice must fix things before it is too late.
Robert Albo has written an interesting book in Beauty Abides (Her Dark Matter Necklace Series). We get to see how Alice's experiences have changed her and the doubts she has about herself and her ability to do her job. A lot of fantasy books usually have the main character jump straight to acceptance and take on the challenge they have been given. Alice reacts in a much more natural and believable way. The characters are well-written and this story is built on the previous book. The world expands, adding new elements to it and the introduction of the virus was an interesting twist, while also reflecting on real life as we deal with one of our own. I still think this is closer to fantasy than sci-fi, but I do think that readers of both genres will enjoy this book. I would recommend it.
