If you are looking for a wonderful book to introduce your child to the fascinating world of biology, look no further. Backyard Critters and Creatures is the best book for elementary students to learn about this planet. Cheryl Johnson presents many different animals with details about where they live, what they eat, how big they are, and even what they weigh. Children will learn the basics of biology and many important concepts that will prepare them to interact with the nature that surrounds them. Do you know how long a wasp lives? Your child will know after they read this book. This fun-to-read book will teach the meaning of words such as diurnal, nocturnal, invertebrate, polymorphism, and many more scientific words. Your child will have a renewed interest in spending time outside on safaris in their backyard.
Cheryl Johnson has written a terrific book that high-school biology teachers will be excited about. Backyard Critters and Creatures lays the foundation for success in high-school biology as well as developing a love for nature that will become a desire to conserve life around the globe. Cheryl knows that just giving the size of a creature is not enough, so she shares common objects that relate to the size and weight of the different animals. Another important lesson learned in this book is that good explorers respect nature and do not destroy the environment. As a former high-school biology teacher, I wish I could mandate that all children read and learn from this book. It will be one of the best investments you can make in your child’s education. The photos of the animals are amazing and will capture your child’s attention.
