Back Yourself, edited by Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner, is exactly the book you need as a female entrepreneur. Two simple and powerful words - Back Yourself - can be elusive and easily forgotten. Like so many women starting businesses, we can succumb to the louder voices of the many nay-sayers out there. Here is where Mitchell and Garner’s collection of inspirational stories from 28 women leaders in various fields steps in. You will read a bit about the person behind the business, their unique calling and passion, and the challenges each has overcome to enjoy success. There is no shortage of diverse business advice with topics ranging from inclusive activewear for everybody to property management to children’s educational products! You’ll be encouraged to stay fast, let go, get out of your comfort zone and learn to love and trust yourself. There really is something for everyone, regardless of where you are in your business journey.
Some of the stand-out advice in Back Yourself for me - even as a seasoned businesswoman - included: Brenda Keane, who shares why you should surround yourself with the right people is key, and how being ready to make a difference and giving back to charities can happen over time. She sets your mind at ease to not try to do everything at once. Then there’s tapping into your passion and energetic alignment by Kylie Mort, who encourages us with “trusting yourself to fly”. I also appreciated that Emma Allen tells us to “think outside the box” and “trust your intuition” using illustrative examples of why these are important. As women, we sometimes forget to back ourselves. There is so much stand-out advice in Back Yourself to mention it all. Thank you, Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner for editing the work: I know I’ll refer to this book when I need a pick-me-up and encouraging words to keep going!
Back Yourself is a great resource for women business owners, whether you're just starting out or an old-hat professional. It can be a lonely journey as a female entrepreneur. The amazing women featured by editors Mitchell and Garner ensure you will not travel alone. Enjoy their company and words of inspiration with the help of 28 excellent role models and guides. Oh, and if the hit-the-spot advice wasn’t enough, the proceeds of book sales go toward Women’s Business School scholarships for women in remote and rural areas, indigenous women, migrant women and women with disabilities, and those facing financial hardship. Invest in a copy of Back Yourself and you’ll join dozens of amazing women helping other amazing entrepreneurs, just like yourself.
