Baby Ecology: Using Science and Intuition to Create the Best Feeding, Sleep, and Play Environment for Your Unique Baby by Anya Dunham is a self-help book for new parents who want to create the best environment for their baby. Finding a parenting technique that fits you and your baby is very important. While the internet is filled with many techniques, they often contradict each other and that adds to the confusion of already overwhelmed parents. Author Anya Dunham examined and combed through hundreds of studies on infant development and more to find out what works and what doesn’t. After the agonizing research, the author has sorted the gold from the dross and presents readers with tips and approaches that are much more efficient when caring for a baby. Offering a holistic approach, the book shares the “building blocks” of a healthy environment that a baby needs to flourish, develop, and be happy.
Parenting should be a joyous time and it is for many parents, but it is an undeniably stressful and overwhelming experience for first-time parents. Author Anya Dunham gives parents the confidence boost they need to take care of their baby. Her ideology that all families are different is very encouraging. What works for someone might not work for you. She explains the "ONE" concept in simple and easy language so that parents can easily absorb the information and then apply it to their daily routine. The idea of each baby being unique is very helpful as well. The term 'building blocks' are perfect for the complex yet very important strategies that any parent can easily apply. Even when the author gets a little scientific with the terms, she reaches the reader’s level of understanding, picks them up, and allows them to absorb everything before moving on. Baby Ecology (aptly named) is a wonderful guide to any overwhelmed parents seeking guidance. Educational and encouraging at the same time.
