Baby Bird's Great Sing by Barbara Lamping is another delightful story from the Baby Bird Series. In this story, Baby Bird is sitting with her Grandma Bird on a tree limb and she always has questions to ask. Grandma Bird knows Baby Bird will grow up one day to become a good mama bird. Baby Bird wants to know why their tree is slowly getting crowded. Grandma Bird tells her how every year before winter sets in they all get together to celebrate life, which humans call Thanksgiving, and they call it the Great Sing. She explains how they celebrate the Great Sing to Baby Bird. The story also conveys a beautiful message of how we all are responsible in taking care of this beautiful world given to us by the Creator, and each one of us can say thank you to our Creator in our own special way.
It's a story with a beautiful concept and a good message with a lot of information for readers. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and they breathe life into the characters and scenes and give the story a good pace and movement. I like the information the author has shared about Thanksgiving and how birds celebrate it. The book is a good bedtime storybook and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Young readers are shown how to be grateful for what we have and how we should appreciate everything that our Creator gives us.
