B For Beretta by F.M. Kamel tells the action-packed story of Lucille Devereaux who travels to Deacon Valley after receiving a message in a dream from her late mother, Madame Davina – the infamous voodoo queen. Lucille meets her Aunt Jasmine and discovers that Jasmine’s son Deshawn Davis (Lucille’s cousin) was recently killed. Officer Dylan Maxwell, whose parents were killed by a man who calls himself The Beast Of Liberty, was the one who handled the paperwork for Deshawn’s death. Deshawn’s twin sister Shaniece is an activist for The Justice Collective and his father, Darius Davis, is a successful defense attorney. Deshawn’s best friend, Kieran Michaels, is the creator of The Justice Collective. Kieran’s sister, Kiara, is a social and moral justice reporter with a strong influence in the online realm. Lucille, Kieran, Kiara, and Darius have to join forces to save a group of rebellious students.
This intriguing novel is filled with twists, turns, and surprises involving The Beast Of Liberty, The Justice Collective, and the interlinked characters. The story is smooth flowing and easy to keep track of, making for a quick read. F.M. Kamel captures the personalities and characteristics of each person involved in the story and provides vivid descriptions of the events, scenes, and locations, especially the protest actions and crime scenes. I especially enjoy the way that the relationships between Lucille, Kiara, and the rest of the characters develop as the story progresses. B For Beretta is an exciting story that I would recommend to all adults.
