Ava's New World is a dystopian sci-fi novella by Ashish Kumar Saxena. In the future, technology permeates every aspect of human life, and AI robots perform much of the workload previously undertaken by humans. Twenty-four-year-old Ava Halcyon has much expertise in most things related to robotics or engineering. However, she is determined to keep a low profile and work on the project she developed with her father that could potentially change the lives of many. Living in the West End, Ava tries her best not to draw the enforcers' attention. But when she learns of the murder of Professor Elena Morales, a woman who had recently offered her an enticing job, Ava suspects foul play. Things escalate further when someone attacks her using technology that not even AI can detect.
Ashish Kumar Saxena spins an engaging dystopian yarn built upon the foundation of an enticing premise. Layered with mystery, suspense, and intrigue, Ava's New World captivates you from the first page and keeps you hooked until the last. Saxena manages to pack so much story into the narrative while crafting a futuristic world that feels authentic and even more immersive. Ava is simply a fascinating protagonist, someone you want to root for. Her relationship with Leo is genuine and was one of the highlights of the book for me. As to the mystery, the book ends with a cliffhanger, which means there may be a sequel in the works. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and hope to read more books in this series. It's a must-read for fans of dystopian science fiction.
