In Autistic World Domination: How to Script Your Life, Jolene Stockman aims to bring autistics what they truly need: respect, fierce optimism, and practical strategies that light the way. For autistic world domination, she says you need two things – a hero and a world. Be the hero, and, as you work through this book, you will design and dominate your dream world. The chapters are scenes, and scene by scene, step by step, you will build your script for your life. Jolene is very optimistic and believes you can change, create, grow, inspire… it’s all up to you. When Jolene was diagnosed autistic as an adult, she was gutted, angry, scared, and sad. She implores each autistic and neuro-divergent person to design a world where they can be free to be themselves, and maybe even valued for their talents. Jolene liberated herself from denial, fear, prejudice, judgment, and rejection. For her it is time to access the gifts of diversity; diversity of brains, culture, skills, and emotions. After a lifetime of feeling weak and different, she invites all to join her in her scientific efforts to make life smoother, easier, and more fun for everyone.
Based on her research, Jolene maintains it will be a loss to humanity if we do not honor neuro-divergent sensitivities that can give us access to a different world. Autistics have a very different way of being in and experiencing the world. For her, it is wasting time and energy to make yourself fit into a world that is not designed for you as a neuro-divergent. In Autistic World Domination, Jolene Stockman demonstrates that if accessibility and inclusion were universal, there would be no disability. A diagnosis is not a prediction. It does not decide who you are, what you deserve, or what is possible for you. If we bring change to the diagnostic criteria and stop creating tools, environments, and classrooms for the typical human, we will start creating for the universal human. Everything else, every symptom, trait, behavior, and quirk, comes from being who you are and adjusting to a neurotypical world. With the right systems, attitudes, and innovations, you have the potential to open up the entire world and boost the happiness and satisfaction of all people, even neurotypical persons. The advice in this book is the product of research, very well thought-out, and written to assist you in creating strategies to identify your needs and explore different ways for your specific benefit.
