Aurora “Rory” is a single young woman living in Nome, Alaska with her father. She has recently broken up with her boyfriend, Kyle, and is the only woman dredger in her small town. When her father becomes ill and is airlifted to the big city, all the responsibility of keeping up the dredger and finding gold is left to Aurora. When the unknown and mysterious Ben suddenly appears in town and begins working with Aurora, the adventure and suspense begin. Aurora desperately wants to show her father that she is keeping the business alive and finding plenty of gold, but circumstances she knows nothing about from people she has always trusted make this seem almost impossible. Aurora and Ben face danger, rumors, unusual accidents and each is keeping secrets while they try to avoid the attraction that is growing between them.

Aurora’s Gold will have you reading late into the night and forgetting to do your chores. This is an action story that offers so many twists, turns, and adventures with characters that you would like for friends. Aurora’s Gold felt like a real-life look into the Alaska gold dredging life. K.J. Gillenwater has written a book embracing so many genres and hitting all of them right on the head. It was impossible not to root for each of the characters to succeed. In trying to figure out who was the good guy and who were the troublemakers, it was impossible to know if Aurora and Ben would ever become a couple and there was never a dull moment. I highly recommend Aurora’s Gold to everyone.
