At the Root by Kimberly Miles is the author’s journey toward the importance of taking responsibility for her health and managing her life after realizing the importance one's mouth plays in one’s overall health and well-being. Many of us go through unexplained health problems that have no solution, despite seeing doctors. The author’s story is one such story where she was plagued by unexplained health problems that later on changed her life. The removal of her wisdom teeth, like thousands of students and teenagers, was the beginning of her personal health decline. The book is key for all readers to make good decisions about their health. The author’s discovery of the path to good health through the teeth-body connection is a revelation of how the mouth can be the origin of a chronic disease or some debilitating illness.
The book is informative and will educate readers about the importance of oral hygiene and how the mouth is the gateway to the body and to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. After reading this book, I now understood that placing unhealthy things in the mouth can affect the overall well-being of a person. The author’s pursuit to reclaim her health is uplifting and encouraging to all, and tells readers that the mouth is, in fact, the gateway to the inner universe. It is indeed a very informative book, filled with facts and science that will make readers aware that the teeth-body connection is one of the important keys to well-being and good health.
