Author Biography

JC Brown lives in a world where magic is real and anything is possible, or at least she likes to pretend so. She has always held a fascination for the darker side of the paranormal, like evil witches, zombies, werewolves, vampires and the fae. When her adult ADD allows, she’s able to focus and carefully craft the intricate web of imagination onto paper.

JC is an avid reader and lover of education that’s led her through many careers. From barista to graphic design, certified nursing assistant to school bus driver but weaving paranormal tales is what she enjoys the most.

As a American Cuban, family and culture are especially important to her. While writing is her absolute passion, her full-time job is Mistress of Minions to her four needy goblins. They definitely keep her on her toes. However, her hysterical husband makes everything easier with his wild, and sometimes inappropriate humor. She shares her Rhode Island home with her husband, children, and parents.

The King of Demons, Asmodeus, is ill. Asmodeus is the demon who collects souls tainted by lust. In JC Brown and Lana Lane’s fantasy story, Jophiel, the Angel of Brightness, has the task to bring Asmodeus to heaven for healing. When she pays him a visit, the demon is less than thrilled to hear her proposition. When he refuses, Jophiel attempts to take him by force. As the two engage in battle, Asmodeus uses his power of lust to defeat the angel. Ashamed, Jophiel flies to an island and asks for healing from another angel, Haniel. After several weeks, Jophiel tries to succeed in her mission and attempts to persuade Asmodeus. Unfortunately, lust lingers in her mind, and seeing him again brings it to the surface. Something causes Asmodeus to stop and leave when he wants to fulfill his desire with her.

Asmodeus: The Gift of Lust is a unique story of a demon and an angel infatuated with each other. I liked how Brown and Lane gave Asmodeus strengths as well as flaws. He wasn’t played as inherently evil, and Jophiel wasn’t created without flaws, despite her role as an angel. Jophiel was the most interesting to me, as she seemed completely naive, and risked her ability to return to heaven by being too curious about her feelings. In Asmodeus, there is great detail given to the surroundings and to the description of every character. The individual characteristics are relatable, and I could not even think of putting the book down. There is action and mounting suspense in the direction of the plot as it changes every moment. The ending was a shocking revelation, and I was left speechless trying to figure out what could have transpired that wasn’t given away in the main story. I foresee a sequel to this book, and my recommendation is for adult readers of dark fantasies to give this book a try.
