Another Way: The Horder Centre Sixty Years of Evolution is about a private healthcare facility in England that paved the way to changes in the National Health Service (NHS), and is written by Charles S Gallannaugh. The NHS is known for its poor judgment and management leading to a distrust of the system, which was further amplified by the Covid-19 pandemic. In contrast, the Horder Centre instead was famous for its efficient and free services. While the Horder Centre is a private entity, it established a partnership with the NHS without having to be tied down by the state system, in hopes of revamping the NHS to become more equipped for its future patients. Another Way consists of two parts. Part one reveals the Horder Centre’s history and its evolution, and part two shows the surgical unit along with the modern joint replacement service.
Another Way is a non-fiction medical book by Charles S. Gallannaugh about the Horder Centre and the National Health Service (NHS) in England. I really enjoyed reading the insightful and relatable issues brought up about the NHS. Another Way is an eye-opening journey that shows how public healthcare can be improved to cater to those in need with the appropriate services. The humble beginnings of the Horder Centre bring light and hope to many of those that cannot depend on the NHS. This book shows in-depth details of the Horder Centre’s evolution, its strong influence on the NHS, and its well-deserved recognition of the efforts of the many dedicated and passionate staff members that made a real difference to the country.
