When two people marry, they become one. We laugh jokingly about our better half, but in reality, our spouses do become our other half. Ruth and Larry Maples were married for forty plus years. I can only begin to imagine her pain when she lost her other half. In 2005, they discovered that Larry had Plasma Cell Leukemia.
And Now I Grieve is a peek inside Ruth’s journal after her loss. “Where you go I will go…” those beautiful words from the Book of Ruth became her mantra as she sat by her husband’s bed and held his hand. He was the focus of her energies. Later she added “and we were.” Larry and Ruth leaned on a higher power. As Christians, they knew God was with them. They knew Larry “would be made whole.”
Ruth shares that time is our friend. We will always remember, but the pain lessens. And Now I Grieveis beautifully written. She shares the intimate journey from grief to memories. She explains how the loss of someone we love changes our lives. She offers hope by sharing her faith and experiences.
