Orion lives in the sphere. She’s lived there all her life, but her life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s a cheerful enough place - but it is the way it is because people are forced to be that way by the Constable. The odd thing is that only Orion can see the situation. Only she can understand that something is horribly, massively wrong with life as she knows it. She just doesn’t know exactly what the problem actually is. Then one day, her naturally bold character and insatiable curiosity lead to her hearing about a place called Earth. One thing leads to another and before she knows what’s happened, she’s tumbled through a rabbit hole of chaos into a life that is anything but a wonderland. There’s no way to get back and no real way forward. She’s stuck and every day is a fight for survival.
Sara Daniell’s An Unfortunate Journey was a fast-paced action novel from start to finish. The best thing about this book was the fact that you simply couldn’t predict the way the story was going to unfold. The plot twists were exciting and captivating. The action was really gritty and large portions of the tale were dark and mysterious. The lead character wasn’t just strong - she was a force to be reckoned with on every level, purely because of her will to survive. In that sense, she is inspirational. Sara Daniell is a good author and An Unfortunate Journey is likely to be another in a long line of well-written, excellently plotted novels that will keep readers on the edges of their seats. If you feel like something a little more thought provoking than your average young adult romance, give An Unfortunate Journey a try!
