An Itty Bitty Christmas by Karen Nowicki is a wonderful little story about a young, happy, brown-and-white Jack Russell Terrier, who lives on a small farm in Maine with a loving family. This young dog’s name is Itty Bitty and the book is about Itty Bitty’s first Christmas from a young puppy’s point of view. The family members are similar to any modern day loving family. Children will relate very easily with this perceptive Christmas story. Questions such as what is so special about Christmas? Who or what is Santa Claus? Who is the Christ child? These are some questions that any young child would ask during the holy season of Christmas. What better way for parents to respond to such questions?
This is a beautifully photographed children’s book which answers these questions in a manner that children can understand. Having read the biography of Karen Nowicki, it’s easy to believe that this book is a true story, although recounted from the perspective of a cute Jack Russell Terrier pup. If only animals could talk, this is exactly what they would say, not to mention think. It is easy to read, well formatted and the real live photographs of the main characters are adorable. The book is a short read and can be finished in one sitting. This is also an excellent bedtime story that will help children enjoy sweet dreams. Young children could very well learn and understand about the true meaning of Christmas.
