Lady Katharine Kirby has been sent to marry Lord Philip Charlesworth, the person she had been arranged to marry as a child. After the death of her father, her uncle took over the family estate and decided that either Katharine would marry Philip or she could stay and wed her cousin, whose only reason for wanting to marry her was to gain access to her money. Neither option was what Katharine wanted, but she felt that marrying Philip was her only true choice. While traveling to the Charlesworth estate, they wreck the coach they are riding in, leaving all but Katharine dead. She makes a spur-of-the-minute decision to pretend to be her maid Ginny, thinking it will buy her some time until she can reach London where she can access her inheritance. Upon meeting Philip, though, she soon realizes that she is taken with him; however, he believes that she is Ginny, and when she tries to confess the truth no one believes her. Will she ever be able to prove her identity, or is she destined to live her life as a maid?

Even though this is a short book with only 216 pages, the author left me feeling quite satisfied with this story. It revolves around Katharine/Ginny who is easy to connect and commiserate with. Once she decided that she wanted to reveal her true identity, I found myself anxious to see how she would accomplish it and thought it was quite clever the way the author did it. I really liked the sweet romance that blossomed between Katharine and Philip, and the ending was quite satisfying! Historical romance fans who enjoy a nice clean read that not only fits the bill for romance, but also gives the reader a bit of suspense along with a fast paced plot and interesting characters, will certainly want to read this one.
