Amazing Adventures in Shelby's Shoes by Melissa Harker Ridenour is a creative children's book about a young girl named Shelby. One day, Shelby had a cold, and wasn't allowed to go outside to play. Instead, she goes through her mother's closet and plays dress up with her mother's clothes. She finds lots of different shoes, like ballet shoes, cowgirl boots, and hiking boots. Shelby tries on each shoe, and has different adventures. She becomes an astronaut, a cowgirl, a golfer, and a famous movie star. What kind of adventures will Shelby have next in her shoes?
I really enjoyed reading Amazing Adventures in Shelby's Shoes by Melissa Harker Ridenour. The book is very well written and the rhyming is very well done. The book is well developed and thought out. The story is inspirational, and it teaches children that you can be anything if you are determined enough. This book will bring a smile to children's faces as they read it. The book was really creative, and it was cool to see what Shelby would imagine next. The characters are very likeable, because Shelby is very imaginative. The pictures by Veronica Castle are colourful and depict each scene, and each adventure, very well. The pictures of Shelby's dog are adorable. Parents will enjoy reading this book to their child, and children will want to read this book over and over again. I would definitely recommend this book to all young readers.
