Always a Groomsman by Michel Prince is the first book in the Love on the Run series. Serena and Connor Love are always looking for the next adventure. Completely devoted to each other, their adventures seem to put them in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time they are off to the Dominican Republic for Serena’s cousin’s wedding. But before the vows are read, a groomsman is dead. Connor and Serena throw themselves into solving the mystery, and when they think they have worked out who the murderer is, they go to the police. But things are never that simple, and someone seems to be putting obstacles in their way. Can they discover who the killer is before the locals place the blame on an innocent person?
Always a Groomsman by Michel Prince is a cozy mystery with all the elements needed for a compelling, intriguing story. The prologue will grab your attention and pull you into a twisting, turning plot with plenty of red herrings and action. The characters are real people, well-developed with believable flaws, and easy to relate to, not to mention likable, including the villains of the piece. This is what cozy mysteries are all about; fun, easy to read with a great plot and descriptive writing that lands you right in the middle, and what better place to be landed than the Dominican Republic! This is a fun story and an excellent start to the series, and I’m looking forward to the next one.
