Alone Along Writers' Roads by Tom Wood is a romantic thriller. Three debut novelists want to change the world with their work but they didn't expect people to die for it. Davis Quigley used to be a beat broadcast reporter in Chicago. Bored with it, he writes a novel about lies in the legal system and gets himself a great publishing deal. Catherine Dallas wrote a best-selling novel about the challenges her generation must fight to overcome, while Brad Harvey self-published his memoirs about love while in prison. Three very different stories, three very different people, but with one thing in common. As the novelists battle through the murky, tough world of publicity, two of them fall in love. But one of them harbors a secret that will destroy everything and anyone who gets in the way. A secret that someone will kill for to keep hidden.
Alone Along Writers' Roads by Tom Wood is a captivating story that grabs you from the first page. There are two sides to this story; the first provides plenty of useful information for those looking to write and publish a book, while the second is the story itself – a romantic/psychological thriller packed with plenty of suspense and action. It covers social issues prevalent in society today and how decisions we make every day of our lives can have far-reaching consequences, especially when we don't think about what we are doing. The characters are exceptionally well-developed as the story unravels, so we learn more about their backgrounds and travel with them as their lives become irrevocably intertwined. The plot is unique, the ending is one of the best I've read, and this is a fantastic debut novel. I hope to read more from Tom Wood soon.
