Allergy Possible! by Monique Faella is a children’s picture book that helps children who have serious allergic reactions to feel less alienated by what’s going on in the world around them. The narrative is smart despite being mainly written in simplistic kid-friendly language. There might be a word or two where a child might need some clarification by a parent or an adult figure in charge regarding pronunciation. The illustrations that were also created by the author are bright and incredibly cheerful which blend in perfectly with the story.
Monique Faella’s Allergy Possible! has a wonderful combination of striking a serious tone while still holding a child’s attention. Faella compares needing a lifesaving medication to being like a superhero with a specific power, and that is something young children are going to relate to. The book helps children who might feel a bit excluded from some things in life to reintegrate. While they might still feel a bit different, it’s no longer experienced negatively. It is part of what makes them unique and makes every moment incredibly precious. This would be a wonderful book for any child, even those without allergies. It would be a useful tool in therapy centers that specialize in helping children and families who might be struggling with allergies.
