Author Biography

Growing up in a small town had more than several advantages and disadvantages. Saying that my childhood was sheltered is nothing short of an understatement. Unlocked doors, cleared streets, and the quiet of a trustworthy neighborhood were all welcomed features of my hometown. As a small child I baked cookies with the old lady down the road. I sat next to my kindergarten crush in sun day school, and literally rode my bike in the middle of the road without a care in the world. We didn't have what kids have today. We actually had to use our imaginations to have a good time. There were no smart phones, tablets, or 64s to keep us occupied. We were perfectly content to play with our stick guns and a water hose for hours on end... And I loved it! Along with my scrapes and bruises I also maintained a simple, happy for the little things attitude, and of course a great tan.

Now that I have made my childhood out to be nothing but cherries and smiles, I have to point out the disadvantages that came with the small town upbringing-- before the world of electronics took over the young mind. One word distinctively comes to mind... Boredom! As I grew into adolescence I no longer cared much for silly toys, dancing, baking, or crafts. I rebelled like many young adults do.With a sever chip on my shoulder and a lack of coordination in the sports department, I spent the majority of my time partying. Nothing too outrageous, mostly close friends, fires, and beer.

As much as I would love to say that living in a small town gave me an overactive imagination and love for books, that is unfortunately not the case. I cared more about having a good time than I did about school. I was voted wild child twice in high school. I cheated my way to passing grades.

It wasn't until I was settled and married with a child on the way that I found my love for the literary world. Rearing out of my mid twenties left me a bit more mature, having to find more important things to do with my time than re-occurring nights at the bar. This is when it started - I read one book after another for a few short years, then decided to give writing a bash. I'm completely amazed at the love I developed! Once I started putting the world of imagination that has long been trapped in my overactive mind into a keyboard, the transformation of self began. A new aspiration in life has formed. I want nothing more than to be known as the unexpected novelist who took the literary world by storm!

Didi Oviatt, the author of Aggravated Momentum, developed a strong, fascinating cast of characters in this thrilling fictional work. Markie is a young single woman who has been greatly affected by the murder of her best friend, Beth. Her sister, Kam, is supportive, yet challenges her to end the grieving and get back into the world of nightclubbing and dating. As more tragedies occur in Markie’s life, the fear and complications continue to build into an unforgettable crescendo. Soon, it becomes virtually impossible for Markie to trust almost anyone; even her dreams become horrible nightmares. No place, nor any person, seems safe anymore. The enthralling intrigue builds; eventually, many secrets are revealed – and the complicated killer is identified.

A page-turning, enticing thriller keeps the reader guessing, and this novel does exactly that. Aggravated Momentum is an exciting adventure, full of unexpected twists and turns and unforeseen developments. Because the characters are so interesting, the reader is engaged from the first page to the last. Ms. Oviatt’s writing style is clear; scenes and characters are believable. The characters are convincingly portrayed, and one can visualize and hear the voice of each person in the story. There are some love scenes that are not too graphic and reveal the characters’ personalities. In other words, there is a purpose to the love scenes, not just as an addition for the sake of sensationalism. There is an authenticity to Ms. Oviatt’s writing that is refreshing to experience in a thriller-type novel.

Markie becomes the victim of a rather sick stalker in Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt. The reader is immediately thrown into a situation in which she/he becomes the witness to a murder. We then get to meet Markie, whose mother had the habit of giving strange names to their kids. She has lost her best friends - also to a murder. When a female neighbor also gets murdered in the same fashion and Markie's best friend's necklace is found on her body, it becomes clear that Markie is all the victims have in common. At the same time, a new man who is a little weird turns up in Markie's life. Suddenly, Markie sees suspects everywhere and wonders who of her friends will be his next victim.

If I did not have to get up early in the morning the following day, I would have read Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt in just one long sitting - but with about two hours to go, I just had to stop and continue the following day. It doesn't happen often that thrillers really grip me or surprise me. This one did. Who the bad person is becomes very clear about one third into the book. At first, I was disappointed because the reveal came so early and I thought this is it, there is nothing else interesting to come. But first of all, it was quite a shock to suddenly see everything from the point of view of the bad character - and the story was not over by a long shot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt is a thriller/murder mystery set against the ordinary backdrop of an average family. Markie and Kam are sisters. As sisters, although they do not always get along, there is genuine caring between them. Kam has been dating Brock on and off for a long time and their lives revolve around friends, dating, and family as usual. However, things take a turn for the worse when there is a murder. Next on the list appears to be Markie herself. Indeed the entire family is in shock and fearful as inexplicable things begin to happen. There is real danger lurking around the corner. This is a gripping thriller of a family caught in the web of a desperate murderer as they all try to grapple with and understand the truth.

Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt is a murder mystery with plenty of drama, suspense, and yes, danger. Intermingled with all this is the usual girl talk between sisters and their friends about boys, relationships, and dating which lends a very “normal” and everyday feel to the book. I thought the characters were well drawn and I found the friendships in the book to be portrayed very realistically. There is an element of fear and suspense throughout as the story is told through the words of various characters. All in all, fans of mystery and thriller genres will love this book as it moves with a fast pace towards a thrilling and gripping ending.

Aggravated Momentum by Didi Oviatt might just be one of the most chilling books you'll ever read. What a great imagination the author has. It makes you really wonder from what murderous depths did Didi Oviatt drag her twisted characters, especially the narcissistic killer and his equally narcissistic mother. Aggravated Momentum begins and ends with murder and throws in a few more between the chapters of this short, page-turning psychological thriller. The demented but clever serial killer would have the FBI profilers of Criminal Minds scratching their heads and racing the clock before he strikes again. All the victims are somehow linked to Markie, a young woman he loathes, as he sees her as the one person in his way to having the woman he loves, her sister, Kam. The killer keeps killing to drag out the punishment he believes Markie deserves to suffer before killing her too. Does he succeed? You'll have to read Aggravated Momentum to find out.

Dysfunctional families, twisted minds, sibling jealousy, blood and gore aggravate the momentum of this sinister third novel by Didi Oviatt. This story is a quick, easy read which unfolds through the viewpoints of several narrators and serves up surprising turns until almost the last page. In her bio, Didi Oviatt states that "I want nothing more than to be known as the unexpected novelist who took the literary world by storm." Well, even though the characters peopling Aggravated Momentum somewhat push the boundaries of credulity, Didi Oviatt is most certainly an unexpected novelist. Chilling thriller fans will love it.
