Adam’s Witness by J.C. Paulson is a murder mystery set in the town of Saskatoon in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Grace Rampling is a beautiful young newspaper reporter for the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. She literally stumbles on the dead body of a bishop in the local church. She calls the police, who see her with the dead body. Is she considered a suspect or a victim? Enter the handsome young Detective Sergeant Adam Davis. Sparks fly between the two and soon Adam must solve the murder and his own feelings for the beautiful young reporter.
Adam’s Witness by J.C. Paulson is a good mix of mystery and romance, with an underlying theme of the intolerance toward the gay community by the killer or killers. Grace Rampling has to deal with being a witness (Adam’s witness) and a possible suspect in a bloody murder at the same time. She is both brave and vulnerable as she deals with covering the story of the murder of Catholic Bishop Howard Halkitt and her feelings for Detective Sergeant Adam Davis. The plot is well done as we find out both Grace and Adam have demons in their past that help shape who they are and how they respond to each other. While they deal with this, Grace becomes a victim of a vicious attack that almost kills her. Adam is torn between his feelings and protecting Grace from further attacks and finding a deranged killer. This all leads to a suspenseful conclusion with a bit of a twist at the end. A must-read for fans of murder mystery and suspenseful romance novels.
