According to Adam (More Stories from the Writer’s Drawer) is an anthology of short stories published by Beryl Belsky. A selected group of writers contributed these pieces, divided into three categories: Fantasy/Romance, Mystery/Horror/Adventure, and Biography/Realism. According to Adam is a humorous twist on Adam and Eve. Adam, who relates how his idyllic life in Eden changes when God introduces him to a beautiful creature he has never seen before, narrates it. The Mountain Pass is an eerie tale about children who went missing during a solstice celebration. Joaquin’s Gold shows how a man’s fervent yearning for wealth often comes with a price. The Last Call is a touching story of a family coping with a son’s schizophrenia. This is the second in The Writer’s Drawers Book Series and every tale is unique.
One of the primary objectives that Beryl Belsky has with the compilation of this book is to expose the talents of new and promising writers. According to Adam (More Stories from the Writer’s Drawer) introduces readers to authors who come from North America, Australia, India, Kurdistan, Ireland, Egypt, Switzerland and others. Their distinctive writing styles often reflect their diverse ethnic cultures and personalities in these stories. I am delighted with some that are very interesting. They are sad, amusing or thought provoking, but a few do not appeal to me. The cover illustration nicely depicts Adam and Eve. These tales are so different in content that I did not know what to expect while I read.
