Accidental Prostitute by Jac Buchanan explores the toxic relationship between a damsel in distress and a knight in shining armor. An unnamed person whose gender is not mentioned goes to pubs to escape their unsafe home. They feel safe in a crowd of strangers and get picked up from the pub for the night. They still live in the same house where they experienced physical and sexual abuse and are haunted by the memories. Furthermore, they fear that they are being stalked, and having a stranger in their bed is their only solution to prevent whoever is outside from getting in. They start working at a pub and change homes to escape. The entire situation messes with their mind and understanding of a healthy relationship.

Accidental Prostitute is a dark story that covers sexual abuse, stalking, and harassment. The themes may be triggers to some sensitive readers, but I promise that it is worth reading. Jac Buchanan has written the story in a gender-neutral manner to accommodate every victim. I loved the inclusivity because society has programmed our brains to link abuse to women, but men also experience it. The story has a smooth flow and has lots of twists and turns. Just when I thought things were getting better, they got worse. The victim lived in fear and took drastic measures that put them in more danger, which was sad. What bothered me the most was that their colleagues looked on and laughed at times. We need to make it easier for victims to open up and report these crimes, instead of blaming or making fun of them. This is a wonderful work.
