A Web of Christmas Love by Steppie Morris is a beautiful story of forgiveness, hope, and love. A curious spider, who lives in a woman's house, becomes intrigued by the festive activity he observes. Initially, he watches in horror as the woman meticulously cleans the house, removing cobwebs from the corners. He sets out to explore the Christmas decorations, completely unaware of the mess he's making with his trailing web. He soon discovers that his choices have unexpected twists, leaving him with feelings of shame and unworthiness. As the tale unfolds, he meets a beautiful, radiant being and learns a wonderful lesson about the true spirit of Christmas.
I found A Web of Christmas Love by Steppie Morris to be a heartwarming read with a strong message of hope and forgiveness that really resonates. The simple plot, presented in delightful rhyming verse, makes it easy to follow, especially for kids. The gentle pace allows everyone to soak in the magic of the Christmas setting and witness the spider's inspiring transformation. Although there's not a lot of action, the descriptive language paints a vivid picture of the spider's journey and the important lessons he learns along the way. It's a lovely story that captures the heart. I especially liked the character of the spider, whose curiosity and initial dismay felt very relatable. I also enjoyed the use of rhyme, vivid imagery by Paul Wembabazi, and good pacing. This makes it an enjoyable read for everyone. The themes of God's unconditional love, redemption, and acceptance are woven beautifully throughout the narrative, reminding us of the true spirit of Christmas. I think both children and adults will find this book warm and inspiring, particularly during the holiday season.
