A Victim's Victory by Vachelle Jemison is the story of a woman who survived the worst that life had to offer and still came out of it victorious. A non-fiction account that speaks to the hearts of readers, the narrative is heartbreaking and powerful at the same time. The author kept the book short; she kept her story short and simple so that it has maximum impact. I cannot explain it, but the story, the struggle and the survival of vSeleda Jemison are just commendable.
vSeleda Jemison was just a little girl when she was molested. Struggling to come to terms with her current predicament, she tries to find assistance and solace in God and His help. Just when she thinks that her life is not worth saving and she should end it once and for all, vSeleda Jemison finds that God is not done with her yet. He wants her to survive and become better and for that reason He sends her a guardian angel. Someone who will help her find herself once again!
This is truly one of the most moving books I have read this year, which is saying something, because the narrative itself is simple, yet the message it delivers is very powerful. The way the book is written leaves very little to the imagination and makes the reader realize the pain and the struggle vSeleda Jemison went through. You want to comfort her and make sure that the hurt goes away, yet at the same time, the narrative has a conviction that God has a new plan for her, one that is better than what she expected. Amazing book with an equally amazing cover!
