A Veil of Glass and Rain: Special Edition (A Touch of Cinnamon) (Volume 1) by Petra March is a contemporary romance set in Europe that flashes back and forth between past and present to tell the full story of Brina and Eagan's love. Brina and Eagan are two children thrown together by their artistic, needy, and eccentric parents. The two grow up together and when they reconnect at ages twenty and twenty-five, deep feelings stir. This story is about overcoming differences and focusing on similarities. It is told through flashbacks that talk about both characters' childhoods, sometimes together and sometimes separately. Then it brings the reader back into the story with the deepening relationship between Brina and Eagan as they age and mature. Now that they have found each other once again, can they make love last? Will they overlook their differences and focus on what binds them together?
A Veil of Glass and Rain is an emotional romance that is beautifully written. Much of the setting is in Rome, giving this story a cool European vibe that was refreshingly different from most romantic reads. It will make readers want to jump onto a plane and travel across the globe. The writing was relaxed and sensual, both in the love scenes and the scenery descriptions. The love scenes were very detailed and explicit in ways that readers will approve of! This story will evoke many strong emotions from readers.
