A to Z Mindfulness: A coping skills coloring book for kids is an interactive educational book for children written by Leanne Richter and Shauna Havlina and illustrated by Ignacio Guerrero Hernandez. Each page in this workbook contains illustrations for kids to color, as well as tasks such as drawing pictures, counting, and using one’s imagination. At the bottom of each page, there’s an inspirational saying to practice. As they work through each page in the book, kids learn about feelings and emotions, and how to express them. They also are developing a set of coping skills to employ when things don’t go that well, or they are feeling upset. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to use this book as a means to start conversations about feelings and mindfulness.
Leanne Richter and Shauna Havlina’s interactive educational book for children, A to Z Mindfulness, teaches kids mindfulness in a way that’s fun and creative. Ignacio Guerrero Hernandez’s illustrations are marvelous templates for coloring in, and he leaves boxes, where appropriate, for kids to indulge their own artistic skills. I love the upbeat message that is shared throughout this book and found that the skills taught on each page are ones everyone could profit by. As I read, I followed each direction and had a grand time exploring the moods and sensations I encountered. This book is a suitable resource for group work as well as for kids to work through on their own. A to Z Mindfulness: A coping skills coloring book for kids is most highly recommended.
