A Tale From a Foxhound Beagle Named Bailey: Siblings Are Your Best Friend by Kristina Wolf Dreisbach is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about change, persistence and a bond. Bailey was the family's loving Foxhound Beagle. Bailey was treated well, from receiving special treats to sleeping on the family's bed. Bailey was happy with his daily routine, which included chasing Charlie, the chipmunk, but one day all of that changed. The family decided to get an addition to the family, another dog, Bella. Bella was a puppy and mimicked everything that Bailey did. Bailey was truly irritated with Bella’s energetic and bouncy ways. But one day something happened that caused Bailey to see Bella in a different way. This change helped to create a bond between the two that would last a lifetime.
I loved reading A Tale From a Foxhound Beagle Named Bailey because it captured the essence of what happens in life when we're confronted with change. Children will not only enjoy reading the story and love the pictures, but they will want to read it over and over again because of the message conveyed. Just as I and others have experienced, children will learn from reading A Tale From a Foxhound Beagle Named Bailey that life is constantly evolving; change happens, but with perseverance and the willingness to be open something special can emerge.
