A Table by the Window: A Novel of Family Secrets and Heirloom Recipes, is the first book in a series by Hillary Manton Lodge, and is one that will stay will you and have you anxiously waiting to begin the next book. The story begins with Juliette inheriting a prep table that belonged to her late grandmother. Finding a book filled with family recipes is only the beginning of a journey into her grandmother’s life and family secrets. Juliette is faced with decisions to make, both career wise and in her personal life, and is also trying to figure out the mystery that is unraveling after she finds an old picture in her grandmother’s belongings. This is just the beginning of an exciting series filled with delicious recipes, sweet romance, and family secrets.
I was immediately intrigued when I read the description for Hillary Manton Lodge’s A Table by the Window: A Novel of Family Secrets and Heirloom Recipes. I love to cook, read, and family is very important to me so this book sounded like something I would enjoy and I was not disappointed at all; now I am anxiously waiting for book two to be released! This book just has so much in it – family relationships, secrets, mysteries, romance AND recipes that can be tried in my own kitchen! I love how recipes are interspersed throughout the book; this is such a good idea and just added to the story in my opinion. I also enjoyed that a quote is included as a heading for each chapter. I love when authors do this as I see them as an extra “spice” to the story. There are so many things taking place in this story and there are so many unanswered questions at the end that I am looking forward to book two in this series!
