"A Special Fish For Jonah: Because God Has A Job For Everyone" by Andy McGuire is a delightful retelling of the story of Jonah. McGuire took an original approach in his book. He tells the story from the fishs` point of view. The illustrations are wonderful. McGuire paid much attention to detail.
I shared this book with our 8 year old grandson, Ryan. He read the story to me. The text was easy for him to read, yet offered just enough challenge. He laughed at the shark with the bib that said 'I (heart) people'. He noticed and commented on the hairs on Jonah’s legs. At the bottom of certain pages the octopus is holding up signs of encouragement. He thought that was particularly funny and read each sign. Toward the back of the book is a glossary with pictures of fish and their names.
Ryan: "I really like this book. It was easy for me to read, I only needed help on a few words. The pictures are the best part". I give this book a 5. The text has a delightful message for children, and it is easy to understand. God has a job for each of us.
