It has been thousands of years since the gods disappeared, driven into extinction by their own conquering needs. All that remains are their runes, powerful magical objects that will bring power and glory to those brave enough to find them. A Song of Sea and Flame: A Chronicle of the First Magic by Ryan Carriere follows the adventure of two protagonists, Roeg and Sephonie, as they embark on an epic quest to save the Atlantean Empire. On their separate adventures, they will face deadly mythical creatures, a brutal history of slavery, and combat an ancient evil that still lurks within the land. The stories of these two teenagers are intertwined in fate as they find a way to work together to stop a deadly curse before it destroys everything they love.
A Song of Sea and Flame by Ryan Carriere is an adventure into a world of magic, creatures, adventure, and personal growth. Carriere carries the reader flawlessly through complex world-building and multiple storylines on the journey of two seemingly unrelated characters as they travel into darkness to save their world. To enter the creative mind of Carriere, you first must enter his world of possibilities, dark realities, and parallels to the modern world. From the hook of the prologue to the surprising and unexpected conclusion, this book was a must-read for me. The intrigue of adventures and excitement that the characters will face is enough to ensure this hefty novel is worth every second of reading. If you are seeking an epic adventure with loveable and complex characters and unexpected suspense, look no further than A Song of Sea and Flame for your next read.
